An organization dedicated to promoting the interests of a noble and loyal breed
AMTC is the American Kennel Club (AKC) National Breed Club for the Manchester Terrier (MT). The American Manchester Terrier Club consists of members dedicated to the protection, education, and welfare of the Manchester Terrier in North America.
Joining the American Manchester Terrier Club (AMTC) provides a great opportunity for you to mix with other Manchester "rat" lovers and show off your dog's skills and attributes. The club has as its main goal the betterment of the breed, and asserts that its membership has an obligation to the Manchester Terrier breed to preserve the magnificence of the breed without exploiting it. To that end the Club was established and those goals are kept in mind as we expand into each new area of involvement with our breed. The Club's membership is actively involved in all those facets of the Breed that contribute to these goals. Subscribe to the quarterly Newsletter to keep you informed.
Areas of interest that the Club pursues, through the active involvement of its membership include the yearly National, Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Working, Genetics, Health, Specialties, Public and Judges Education and Awards.
In 1923 the Manchester Terrier Club of America was recognized. 1934
saw the Toy Black and Tan Terrier changed to Toy Manchester Terrier, and
in 1938 the American Toy Manchester Terrier Club was recognized.
By 1952, however, the Manchester Terrier Club of America (Standards) was
without organized breed representation. To the credit of the American
Toy Manchester Terrier Club, the two breeds were combined as one (as
two varieties -
Standard & Toy) with the formation of the American
Manchester Terrier Club in 1958, an organization which still survives
today. Official (printable) AMTC Breed Information

The AMTC holds a yearly National Specialty Show (The National) rotated amongst its nine districts. In addition, each District provides opportunities to showcase the dogs with specialty shows and sponsored activities throughout the year.
